今回もコスモプロフアジア2022 に関連してシンガポール出張のお話
とはいっても今回は番外編で美容以外のお話も・・・
３年ぶりの海外出張 そして4年ぶりのシンガポールで見たこと感じたことをいくつか・・・
・キャッシュレス
現地の通訳さんから聞いたのですがシンガポールは急速にキャッシュレス化が進んでいるそうで
クレジットカードやデビッドカードをはじめQR決済も多種多様にあります。日本でもかなりQR決済は増えてきましたがお店の規模により普及していないところも多いのが実情ですね。一方シンガポールでは小さなお店でもカードやQR決済対応のお店が多いです、私は街の小さな薬局でおみやげ用のタイガーバームをクレジットカードで購入しました。ホーカーセンターと呼ばれる屋台では基本は現金払いなのですが、ここ最近は一部のQR決済に対応しているお店が増えてきているそうです。
・地下鉄
地下鉄では日本のように一回だけ使用する切符は存在せずプリペイド方式や１日単位で乗り放題になっているものなど、３種類のカードがあるのですがそれらにはICチップが埋め込まれており日本のPASMO やSuicaのように改札機にかざして使用します。ここまでは日本同じですが、進んでいるのは、この改札機が優秀でVISAやMasterのクレジットカードをそのままスキャンしてもOKなので非常に便利です。私も滞在中はカードを購入せずにクレジットカードで利用しました。
・展示会場
コロナ禍で密を避ける意味で日本でも展示会場での人を介した受付は廃止され事前のオンライン予約が当たり前になりました。日本の場合の多くは展示会場入口付近で無人のスキャナでオンライン予約で生成されたコードをスキャンして入場パスをプリントして名札ホルダーに入れて入退場するのが一般的ですが、今回のコスモプロフアジアではオンライン予約時に生成されたコードをスマホ上からそのままスキャンして入退場が可能です。
印刷もせず名札ホルダーを使用しないので非常にスマートです。
・空港
チャンギ空港のターミナルには航空会社の職員はほとんどおらず搭乗手続きはセルフで行います。予約番号を無人の端末に入力すると手荷物預けのシールも自動で印刷されるので自分で荷物に貼り付けて荷物を預けます。併せて搭乗券も自動で発券されます。そして出国審査もパスポートのスキャンと機械による顔と指紋の認証にパスするとゲートが自動で開きます。

・タクシー
配車アプリが複数あります。料金や使い勝手によって現地の人は使い分けているようですが
Grabというアプリは以前から私もよく利用していました。Grabはタクシーだけでなく一般人が自己の所有車を使って仕事をしたい時だけアプリを経由してタクシー業務ができる仕組みです。なにより便利なのはアプリから乗車地と目的地を入力すると料金が先にわかるので安心です。ぼったくりもなく言葉の壁も問題ありません。ドライバーの口コミや評価もアプリ上で共有されています。決済は現金もクレジットカードも使えます。アプリの利用履歴に情報が残るのでレシート代わりにもなります。日本でおなじみのUber は日本では食事のデリバリーの印象しかありませんが、以前はこの配車アプリでシンガポールでも利用されていました。（現在はGrabと合併してUberとしてのサービスはありませんが）この配車アプリの普及はその国のタクシーに関するライセンスや法律により異なります。日本では一般の人がタクシーの業務をすることができませんのでこのサービス自体がありません。一方でアプリの同じ仕組みを使って、Japan Taxiや GO 等のアプリがタクシー業界で利用されていますね。
・美容室のメニュー料金
せっかくなので現地の美容室の料金について
地元の人が通う一般的なサロンの料金と日系サロンの料金の比較です。
１シンガポールドルは ２０２２年１１月中旬のレート約１００円なので
現地の料金に１００をかけると日本円になります。

いかがでしょう？
日系サロンさんのメニュー料金は現地でも高い方だと思いますが、日本の高級サロンと比較しても高い感じがしますね。
（恐らくお店の家賃も驚くほど高いと思います）

出張時に通訳さんに教えていただいたこと
シンガポールでは人じゃなくてもできることや人を介することで手間や行程が伴うことは
機械やシステムが迅速に確実に処理する仕組みを社会が作り上げていっているそうです。
”待たない・並ばない・混まない・時間をかけない” スマートでストレスフリーな社会
そして財布を持たなくても生活できる便利な社会がそこまで来ていると感じます。
３年ぶりの海外出張は刺激的でとても有意義なものになりました。

First Overseas Business Trip in 3 Years, Part 3 Cosmoprof ASIA 2022

I would like to continue talking about my business trip to Singapore in connection with Cosmoprof Asia 2022. But this time, I’d like to talk about something other than beauty.
First business trip abroad in 3 years, and first time in Singapore in 4 years.
・Cashless
I heard from a local interpreter that Singapore is rapidly becoming a cashless society.
There are a wide variety of QR payment methods, including credit and debit cards. In Japan, QR payments have increased considerably, but the reality is that they are not widely used in many places, depending on the size of the store. In Singapore, on the other hand, there are many small stores that accept credit cards and QR payments. I bought Tiger Balm as a souvenir at a small pharmacy in town using a credit card. At Hawker Centre, which are basically cash-only stalls, some stores have recently started accepting QR payments.
・Subway
In the subway, there is no one time ticket like in Japan, but there are three types of passenger tickets, including prepaid cards and cards that allow unlimited rides for one day, which are used by scanning IC chips as Japanese PASMO and Suica. The advanced feature of these machines is that you can scan your VISA or Master credit card directly into the machine, which is very convenient. During my stay in Singapore, I used my credit card without purchasing a passenger card.
・Exhibition hall
In order to avoid density on the occasion of Corona disaster, online reservations in advance have become the norm in the exhibition halls as well as in Japan, as the reception desk through a person in person has been abolished. In most cases in Japan, visitors enter and exit the exhibition hall by scanning the code generated by the online reservation with an unattended scanner near the entrance, printing out an entrance pass, and placing it in a nameplate holder. However, at Cosmoprof Asia, visitors can enter and exit the venue by scanning the code generated at the time of online reservation from their smartphones. This is very smart because no printing is required and no nameplate holder is used.
・Airport
There are almost no airline staff at the Changi Airport terminal, and check-in procedures are self-service. After entering your reservation number into an unmanned terminal, a sticker for baggage check-in is automatically printed, which you affix to your baggage and check in your baggage. The boarding pass is also automatically issued at the same time. Passport scanning and machine authentication of face and fingerprints are required for passport control, and the gate will open automatically.

・Cab
There are several car-dispatch apps available. The local people choose them properly by fee and usability. Grab is an app that I have been using for some time, which allows people to use not only cabs but also their own cars to do their business. The most convenient thing about the app is that you can enter the location of your ride and destination and see the fare ahead of time. There are no rip-offs and language barriers are not a problem. Driver reviews and ratings are also shared on the app. Both cash and credit cards are accepted for payment. The app’s usage history stores information and can be used in place of receipts. Uber, which is well-known in Japan as only a meal delivery service, but it used to be used in Singapore with a car-delivery app. (Currently, it has merged with Grab and is no longer offered as Uber.) The prevalence of this cab dispatch app depends on the licensing and laws regarding cabs in each country. In Japan, this service itself does not exist because the general public is not allowed to engage in cab business. On the other hand, using the same mechanism of apps, such as Japan Taxi and GO are being used in the cab industry.

Since I’m here, let’s take a look at the prices of local beauty salons.
The following is a comparison of the prices at a Japanese salon and a typical salon that locals go to.
1 Singapore Dollar is about 100 yen as of mid-November 2022.
Multiply the local fee by 100 to get the Japanese yen.

What do you think?
I think the menu prices of Japanese-affiliated salons are high even in the local market, but they seem expensive compared to high-end Japanese salons.
(Perhaps the rent for the store is also surprisingly high.)
How was it?
This time, I took a short break from beauty and summarized what I saw and felt on my first overseas business trip in three years.
What I learned from my interpreter during my business trip
In Singapore, machines and systems have been established to quickly and reliably handle things that can be done by non-human workers and things that require human intervention.
I feel that a smart and stress-free society where people don’t have to wait, don’t wait in line, don’t get crowded, and don’t spend a lot of time, and where we can live conveniently without having to carry a wallet will be nearly coming.
My first overseas business trip in three years was exciting and very meaningful.
